Where it came from
Yume Miru, Anime on-chan was produced by Studio Egg in 2010 as the second season of a series featuring on-chan, the long-standing official mascot of the Hokkaido Television Broadcasting (HTB) station. The character originated in 1997 and became a staple of Hokkaido media, gaining enough popularity to justify this expansion into a dedicated anime series designed to introduce the mascot to a broader audience through lighthearted, episodic storytelling.
The animation style and design approach aimed to maintain the simplicity and charm of the original character while adapting it for a television format. Studio Egg utilized a clean, digital aesthetic consistent with the era's children's television programming, focusing on accessibility and character-driven humor. The series was well-received within its specific regional context, reinforcing on-chan's status as a cultural icon for HTB and the local community.
