Where it came from
Released in 2015, Yume no Ukiyo ni Saitemina served as a collaborative single between the veteran Japanese rock band Momoiro Clover Z and the legendary heavy metal group KISS. The project was conceived as a cross-cultural musical bridge, blending J-pop sensibilities with American hard rock aesthetics. The collaboration was released in multiple versions, featuring unique artwork that fused the distinct kabuki-inspired makeup of KISS with the high-energy idol aesthetic of Momoiro Clover Z.
The official music video for the single was produced by the acclaimed animation studio TRIGGER. Directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi, the animation reflects the studio's signature kinetic style, characterized by bold lines, intense colors, and fluid, over-the-top action sequences. By integrating digital effects with traditional hand-drawn animation techniques, TRIGGER aimed to create a visual spectacle that honored the iconic status of both musical acts, resulting in a piece that is celebrated within anime fandom as a standout example of studio experimentalism.
