Where it came from
The Yume Oukoku to Nemureru 100 Nin no Ouji-sama Shorts, released in 2017, serves as an animated companion to the popular fantasy mobile game of the same name. Produced by Satelight, this original net animation (ONA) series was developed to expand the world-building of the franchise, focusing on the whimsical interactions between the various princes of the dream kingdom rather than the game's central narrative arc.
The character designs were adapted from the original game's visual style, which emphasizes elaborate, romanticized fantasy aesthetics intended to appeal to fans of the josei and otome genres. Upon its release, the shorts were received as a lighthearted, comedic supplement for the established player base, effectively transitioning the game's colorful roster of royalty into an episodic format.
