yumeutsutsu

Yumeutsutsu is a 2002 adult visual novel developed by the studio Kogado Studio, which was subsequently adapted into a two-episode original video animation (OVA) series released in 2004. The story centers on a young woman named Ai who joins a modest game development company, focusing on the professional and personal dynamics of the team as they work to release their own title. It emerged during a period when the slice-of-life genre was gaining traction within the visual novel community, emphasizing workplace camaraderie and character-driven narratives over more traditional fantasy tropes.

The visual design of the series reflects the aesthetic typical of early 2000s Japanese animation, characterized by soft character models and a focus on intimate, character-centered framing. The character designs were handled by the illustrator Fujieda Miyabi, whose work contributed to the series' approachable, lighthearted visual tone. Upon its release, the adaptation was received primarily by the dedicated fanbase of the original visual novel, valued for its faithful translation of the game's quiet, reflective atmosphere into the medium of animation.
