Where it came from
ZatsuTabi -That's Journey- is a 2025 television anime adaptation based on the manga series by Kenjiro Matsuoka, published by KADOKAWA. The story follows Chika, a protagonist who, feeling trapped by her daily routine, embarks on unplanned rail journeys across Japan. It fits into the 'iyashikei' or healing genre, focusing on the atmosphere of travel and the serendipitous experiences of visiting local destinations, designed to resonate with those seeking an escape from urban life.
The animation production was undertaken by studio East Fish Studio and KADOKAWA, focusing on faithfully capturing the visual details of the Japanese railway system and regional landscapes described in the source material. The series aims to provide a meditative viewing experience that highlights the charm of lesser-known train stations and local culture, garnering interest from fans of travel-themed narratives and slice-of-life storytelling.
