Where it came from
Zombie-ttal is a television production developed by EBS, South Korea’s public broadcaster, as part of their commitment to educational and culturally relevant programming. The series was designed to engage younger audiences by blending the popular zombie subgenre with character-driven storytelling, aiming to foster discussions around social dynamics and resilience. Its creation reflects the studio's broader efforts to modernize their children's and young adult animation catalogs with contemporary, high-concept themes.
The visual direction of the series leans into a stylized, accessible aesthetic that balances the tension of its premise with a tone suitable for its target demographic. Designed by the in-house creative teams at EBS, the show was crafted to be visually distinct within the crowded landscape of horror-adjacent youth media. Upon its release, it was recognized for its creative departure from traditional educational programming, receiving praise for its willingness to experiment with narrative structures while remaining aligned with the station's pedagogical roots.
