Black-faced Tanager

The Black-faced Tanager, or Schistochlamys melanopis, is a member of the Thraupidae family native to South America, spanning regions from Colombia and Venezuela to Brazil and Bolivia. It was formally described by the ornithologist John Latham in 1790. Within the context of Neotropical avifauna, this species is noted for its preference for open woodlands, savanna-like habitats, and forest edges, where it is often observed foraging in small groups.
