White-bellied Seedeater

The White-bellied Seedeater, scientifically classified as Sporophila leucoptera, is a member of the diverse Thraupidae family. Native to South America, particularly in regions across Brazil, Bolivia, Paraguay, and Argentina, it occupies humid grasslands, marshes, and scrubby habitats. Its evolution is characterized by a specialized beak adapted for feeding on grass seeds, a hallmark of the Sporophila genus, which has diversified significantly in response to the varied seed-bearing flora of the Neotropics.
