Black-hooded Antwren

The Black-hooded Antwren, scientifically known as Formicivora erythronotos, is a small insectivorous bird native to the Atlantic forest biome of coastal Brazil. Its history is marked by a notable period of rediscovery; long feared extinct due to the rapid degradation of its specialized restinga habitat, the species was famously rediscovered in 1987 near Rio de Janeiro.
