Blue-masked Leafbird

The Blue-masked Leafbird (Chloropsis venusta) is a small passerine bird native to the montane forests of Sumatra, Indonesia. As a member of the Chloropseidae family, it occupies a specialized ecological niche in the canopy, relying on its vibrant plumage and pointed tail for maneuvering through dense foliage. It was formally described by the ornithologist Bonaparte in 1850, emerging from an era of intensive European exploration of the Indonesian archipelago aimed at cataloging the unique biodiversity of the Sundaland biodiversity hotspot.
