Burchell's Courser

The Burchell's courser, Cursorius rufus, is a ground-dwelling bird native to the arid grasslands and semi-deserts of Southern Africa. Named after the British explorer and naturalist William John Burchell, who conducted extensive expeditions in the region during the early 19th century, the species is defined by its cryptic plumage which allows it to blend seamlessly into the sandy, stony environments it inhabits.
