Cetti's Warbler

Cetti's warbler was first described by the Italian zoologist Marmora in 1820, named in honor of the 18th-century Jesuit priest and naturalist Francesco Cetti. This small passerine bird is native to the wetlands and dense scrublands of the Mediterranean basin, the Middle East, and parts of Central Asia, where its presence is historically signaled by a characteristic, explosive song rather than frequent sightings.

The species is defined by its rounded wings and distinctive notched tail, physical traits that facilitate maneuverability within the thick, tangled vegetation it inhabits. Ornithologists often note that while its plumage is relatively nondescript, the bird's behavioral adaptation to dense cover and its expansion into Western Europe during the 20th century have made it a subject of significant interest in studies of avian dispersal and habitat resilience.
