Crested Quetzal

The Crested Quetzal, known scientifically as Pharomachrus antisianus, is a member of the Trogonidae family, primarily native to the humid montane forests of the Andes. Within the context of ornithological history, the species was first formally described by the French naturalist Alcide d'Orbigny in the 19th century. Its distinctive appearance, particularly the iridescent plumage and the elongated, undulating tail feathers characteristic of the genus, has long made it a subject of fascination for naturalists documenting the biodiversity of South American cloud forests.
