Dusky White-eye

The Dusky White-eye, Zosterops finschii, is a passerine bird endemic to the island of Kosrae in the Federated States of Micronesia. It was first described by the German ornithologist Otto Finsch, who dedicated much of his career to surveying the avifauna of the Pacific Islands during the late nineteenth century. The species occupies a relatively isolated ecological niche, reflecting the evolutionary patterns common to island-dwelling white-eyes that have adapted to stable, forested environments.

The physical characteristics of the species, including its characteristically rounded wings and tail, are typical of the Zosterops genus, facilitating maneuverability within the dense canopy of its habitat.
