Where it came from
The Dwarf Tyrant-Manakin, Tyranneutes stolzmanni, is a species of bird in the family Pipridae, primarily distributed throughout the lowland rainforests of the Amazon Basin. It was formally described by the German ornithologist Hans von Berlepsch in 1881. The species was named in honor of the Polish naturalist Jan Sztolcman, who contributed significantly to the study of South American avifauna during the late nineteenth century.
This species is recognized for its compact size and subtle morphological characteristics, such as its rounded wing and tail shapes, which are adapted for maneuvering through dense forest undergrowth. Unlike many of its more vibrantly colored relatives in the manakin family, the Dwarf Tyrant-Manakin exhibits a drab, olive-green plumage that serves as effective camouflage within its habitat. Its presence is most frequently confirmed through its distinctive vocalizations rather than direct visual observation.
