Golden-shouldered Parrot

The golden-shouldered parrot, Psephotellus chrysopterygius, is a rare species endemic to a small region of the Cape York Peninsula in Queensland, Australia. Its distinct appearance, characterized by the striking yellow shoulder patches from which it derives its common name, evolved as an adaptation to the specific savanna woodlands and termite mound nesting sites essential to its life cycle.
