Hodgson's Treecreeper

Hodgson's treecreeper (Certhia hodgsoni) was formally described in the mid-19th century and named in honor of Brian Houghton Hodgson, a British diplomat and naturalist who contributed significantly to the study of Himalayan fauna. It is native to the higher elevations of the Himalayas, inhabiting coniferous and mixed forests where it utilizes its specialized anatomy to navigate bark surfaces. The species is characterized by a relatively narrow wing shape and a stiff, pointed tail, evolutionary adaptations that allow it to forage vertically on tree trunks.
