Long-tailed Fiscal

The Long-tailed Fiscal, scientifically classified as Lanius cabanisi, is a passerine bird native to the East African savanna. It belongs to the shrike family, a group evolutionarily recognized for their predatory behavior and unique habit of impaling prey on thorns or barbed wire to secure it for later consumption. This species was first described in the late 19th century and has since been identified as a stable fixture of the grassland ecosystems in regions including Kenya, Tanzania, and Somalia.
