Plain Mountain Finch

The Plain Mountain Finch, Leucosticte nemoricola, was first formally described by Brian Houghton Hodgson in 1836. It is a member of the Fringillidae family, inhabiting the high-altitude regions of the Himalayas and the Tibetan Plateau. Evolutionarily, its physical characteristics, such as the broad wing shape and notched tail, are specialized adaptations for maneuverability and sustained flight in thin, mountainous air during its seasonal migrations and foraging activities.
