Pringle's Puffback

Pringle's Puffback, or Dryoscopus pringlii, is a small bushshrike native to the arid thorn-scrub environments of East Africa, specifically documented across regions of Kenya, Somalia, and Tanzania. Named after the British explorer and collector J.W. Pringle, the species was formally described in the late 19th century as ornithologists expanded the classification of African avifauna. Its common name derives from the loose, downy feathers on its rump that can be fluffed up during display, a distinctive physical adaptation common to the genus.
