Puerto Rican Tody

The Puerto Rican Tody, or Todus mexicanus, is an endemic species restricted to the island of Puerto Rico. As a member of the Todidae family, it occupies a unique ecological niche within the Caribbean, having evolved in relative isolation. These birds are primarily found in moist forests and mountainous regions, where their specialized diet of small insects and their characteristic high-pitched calls have made them a distinct part of the island's natural heritage.
