Ruddy Duck

The ruddy duck, Oxyura jamaicensis, is a small, stiff-tailed North American waterfowl known for its distinctive appearance and vibrant breeding plumage. During the nineteenth century, these ducks were often hunted extensively for the market, as their habit of remaining on the water rather than taking flight made them easy targets.
