Russet Bush Warbler

The Russet Bush Warbler, Locustella mandelli, is a passerine bird belonging to the family Locustellidae. It was first described by the naturalist William Edwin Brooks in 1871. These birds are primarily found in the dense, high-altitude shrubbery and tea plantations of the Himalayas, ranging from Northern India to Southern China and Southeast Asia. Its taxonomy has historically been complex, with various subspecies and related species often grouped together under the bush warbler classification, reflecting the challenges ornithologists face in distinguishing these elusive birds by sight alone.
