Seram Honeyeater

The Seram Honeyeater, scientifically classified as Lichmera monticola, is a passerine bird endemic to the mountainous regions of Seram, an island in the Indonesian Maluku archipelago. It was formally described in the early 20th century, emerging from an era of intensive ornithological exploration in the Wallacea region. This species evolved within the unique, isolated high-altitude forests of the island, resulting in its distinct physical characteristics, such as its characteristically rounded wings and slightly notched tail.
