Slate-headed Tody-Flycatcher

The Slate-headed Tody-Flycatcher (Poecilotriccus sylvia) is a species of passerine bird belonging to the Tityridae family, historically classified within the Tyrannidae. It is native to the Neotropics, ranging from southern Mexico through Central America and into parts of northern South America. The species thrives in the mid-levels of humid forests and dense thickets, where its presence is often detected more by its distinct, insect-like vocalizations than by visual sightings.

First formally described by the French naturalist Audebert and Vieillot in 1817, the species is defined by its small, compact silhouette, characterized by a rounded wing shape and a subtle notch in its tail feathers.
