Speckle-fronted Weaver

The Speckle-fronted Weaver, known scientifically as Sporopipes frontalis, belongs to a small genus of passerine birds primarily distributed across the arid savannas and acacia scrublands of sub-Saharan Africa. Ornithologically, it is distinguished by its social behavior and distinct plumage, particularly the black-and-white scaling on its forehead that gives the species its common name. The classification of the species emerged from 19th-century colonial-era biological surveys, where it was grouped within the Ploceidae family due to its characteristic weaver-finch physiology.
