Striated Babbler

The Striated Babbler, known taxonomically as Argya earlei, is a member of the Leiothrichidae family native to the wetlands and tall grasslands of South Asia. It was first formally described by the British naturalist Edward Blyth in 1844. The species is characterized by its distinctively streaked plumage, which serves as effective camouflage within the dense reeds and scrub it inhabits. Its rounded wings and notched tail are evolutionary adaptations for short, undulating flights through cluttered riparian environments.

The bird was named in honor of Willis Earle, an English amateur naturalist who collected specimens in India during the 19th century.
