Sumatran Shortwing

The Sumatran Shortwing was historically classified as a subspecies of the White-browed Shortwing, but molecular studies and distinct vocalization patterns led to its recognition as a separate species. Indigenous to the montane forests of Sumatra, this passerine bird evolved in the dense, high-altitude understory, a habitat that dictates its morphology.
