Daurian Redstart

The Daurian Redstart, known scientifically as Phoenicurus auroreus, is a small passerine bird that belongs to the Muscicapidae family. Its distribution centers on eastern Asia, where it migrates between breeding grounds in temperate regions like Siberia, Mongolia, and northern China, and wintering grounds in southern China, Japan, and Southeast Asia. The species is named for the Dauria region in Transbaikalia, a territory that serves as a core part of its summer range.

The bird is characterized by its distinct physical silhouette, featuring pointed wings and a notched tail which aid its agile, flycatcher-like foraging behavior.
