Wallace's Hanging-Parrot

Wallace's Hanging-Parrot, also known as the Flores Hanging-Parrot, was first described by Alfred Russel Wallace in 1864 following his exploration of the Malay Archipelago. As a member of the genus Loriculus, this species reflects the unique evolutionary adaptations of birds within the Wallacea region, characterized by its distinctive rounded wing and tail shapes which assist in its agile, maneuvering flight through dense island foliage.
