White-eared Solitaire

The White-eared Solitaire (Entomodestes leucotis) is a bird species native to the humid montane forests of the Andes, ranging across parts of Bolivia, Peru, and Argentina. First described in 1842 by Frédéric de Lafresnaye, it belongs to the thrush family, Turdidae. Taxonomically, it serves as a representative of the solitaire group, which are characterized by their specialized adaptation to dense, high-altitude forest ecosystems where their elusive behavior and melodic songs often make them difficult to spot.

The species is distinguished by its unique morphology, including rounded wings that facilitate agile navigation through thick undergrowth and a distinctively pointed tail.
