White-eared Tailorbird

The White-eared Tailorbird (Orthotomus cinereiceps) is a passerine bird endemic to the Philippines, specifically inhabiting the lowland forests of Mindanao and Basilan. It was first formally described by the British ornithologist Richard Bowdler Sharpe in 1877. As a member of the Cisticolidae family, its evolutionary path is rooted in the dense tropical undergrowth of the archipelago, where its distinct plumage and vocalizations evolved to suit the humid, foliage-rich environment of its native range.

The bird is characterized by its rounded wings and pointed tail, features that reflect an adaptation for maneuvering through thick forest vegetation rather than long-distance flight.
