White-throated Jay

The White-throated Jay (Cyanolyca mirabilis) is a bird species endemic to the temperate forests of Guerrero and Oaxaca in southwestern Mexico. It was formally described by the ornithologist Nelson in 1903. As a member of the genus Cyanolyca, it represents a group of New World jays adapted to high-altitude cloud forests, often existing in isolated populations that are highly sensitive to habitat fragmentation and deforestation within the Sierra Madre del Sur.
