Where it came from
Andor: The Family Fantasy Game was released by Kosmos in 2020 as an accessible entry point into the established Legends of Andor universe. Designed by Inka Brand, the game was developed to capture the cooperative, narrative-driven essence of the original series while streamlining mechanics for younger players and families. It utilizes a modular, pick-up-and-play approach that focuses on completing specific missions rather than managing complex character progression, ensuring shorter play sessions that remain engaging for all age groups.
The visual identity of the game continues the artistic tradition established by Michael Menzel, whose evocative illustrations have defined the Andor franchise since its inception. By maintaining the same aesthetic style, the game provides a consistent experience for fans of the brand while emphasizing approachable rules that prioritize collaborative problem-solving. Upon its release, it was noted for its ability to distill the high-fantasy themes of its predecessor into a family-friendly format, effectively broadening the franchise's reach to a wider demographic.
