Kryptos is a cryptic sculpture created by American artist Jim Sanborn, installed on the grounds of the Central Intelligence Agency in Langley, Virginia, in 1990. Commissioned as a centerpiece for the agency's new headquarters, the work consists of four large, curved copper plates etched with complex, ciphered messages.
