Christophori Clavii Bambergensis ex Societate Jesu

Published in 1602 by Joannis de Gabiano, this work represents the scholarly output of Christoph Clavius, a German Jesuit mathematician and astronomer who served as the primary architect of the Gregorian calendar. Clavius was a central figure in the intellectual life of the Roman College, and his writings were essential in disseminating advanced mathematics and astronomical data across Europe during the late Renaissance.

The text reflects the rigorous academic standard of the Jesuit order, which prioritized the synthesis of classical logic with contemporary observations. Clavius was renowned for his clarity as an educator and his defense of the Ptolemaic and Tychonic systems, and this publication was received by his contemporaries as a sophisticated pedagogical tool for students navigating the transition toward modern scientific inquiry.
