Daniel Brush--gold without boundaries

Published in 1998 by Harry N. Abrams, Daniel Brush: Gold Without Boundaries serves as a definitive monograph on the work of the American artist and jeweler. The book emerged as a way to document Brush’s meditative approach to gold, a material he treated not merely as a precious metal but as a medium for complex light-play and philosophical inquiry. By capturing his intricate, hand-wrought pieces through high-fidelity photography, the publication brought international attention to his secluded studio practice in Manhattan.

The volume was crafted to reflect the intimacy and intellectual rigor of Brush's aesthetic, which draws heavily from the discipline of Japanese metalwork and historical art traditions. Critics and scholars received the book as a rare insight into the life of an artist who deliberately eschewed the mainstream jewelry market. It remains a primary reference for those studying the intersection of fine jewelry, sculpture, and the history of gold as a fine art medium.
