Decorative plants

Decorative Plants was published in 1935 by the Caroline Rohland firm, emerging during a period when instructional design manuals and botanical guides were highly sought after by home decorators and amateur enthusiasts. This work reflects the mid-1930s cultural emphasis on domestic aesthetics, offering guidance on how to integrate indoor greenery into residential spaces at a time when the modern interior design movement began to gain significant momentum.

The publication is illustrative of the era's focus on structured, accessible artistic instruction. Designed to bridge the gap between technical botanical observation and interior styling, the book utilized clean, simplified imagery that aligned with the prevailing graphic design sensibilities of the mid-1930s. It was well-regarded among hobbyists for its practical approach to beautifying the home, serving as a quiet but influential contribution to the literature of interwar period domesticity.
