Devils and Realist - Volume 11

Devils and Realist, originally titled Makai Ouji: Devils and Realist, began as a manga series written by Madoka Takadono and illustrated by Utako Yukihiro in 2009. The series blends supernatural fantasy with Victorian aesthetics, focusing on William Twining, a rationalist student who inadvertently becomes involved in the selection process for the next ruler of Hell. Volume 11, released in English by Seven Seas Entertainment in 2016, represents the latter half of the series' run, maintaining the intricate character designs and gothic atmosphere that define Yukihiro’s signature visual style.

The series gained a following for its unique fusion of historical setting and demonology-inspired mythology. When Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the title for North American distribution, they aimed to capture the growing market for fantasy manga featuring complex character dynamics and elaborate costuming. As a later volume in the saga, this installment was produced for an established reader base, emphasizing the deepening stakes of the plot as William moves closer to the climactic resolution of the Hellish succession crisis.
