Donations Claude Roger-Marx

Published in 1980 by the Réunion des musées nationaux, this catalogue documents the significant bequest of Claude Roger-Marx to the Cabinet des dessins at the Musée du Louvre. Roger-Marx was a distinguished French art critic, writer, and collector whose expertise was particularly focused on the prints and drawings of the 19th and early 20th centuries. His donation served to enrich the national collection with works that reflected his deep personal engagement with the artists of his time.

The volume functions as both a record of the acquisition and a scholarly tribute to Roger-Marx's discerning eye. In curating this collection, the Louvre aimed to preserve the legacy of a man who bridged the gap between academic art history and the avant-garde sensibilities of the Parisian art world. The design and documentation are characteristic of museum publications from the period, emphasizing archival rigor and the historical context of the drawings included in the gift.
