Emerging Practices in the Age of Automated Digital Journalism

Emerging Practices in the Age of Automated Digital Journalism was published by Routledge in 2022 as part of their focus on contemporary media studies. Berta García-Orosa, a researcher specializing in digital communication, developed this work to address the rapid integration of algorithms and artificial intelligence into editorial workflows. The book serves as a scholarly analysis of how newsrooms adapt to technological shifts, aiming to bridge the gap between theoretical media research and the practical realities of modern reporting.

The text is situated within a broader body of academic literature exploring the intersection of journalism and computational processes. It was designed to provide students and media professionals with a critical framework for understanding how automation alters the structure of news creation and audience engagement. Upon its release, it was received as a relevant addition to journalism pedagogy, highlighting the ethical and operational challenges posed by the transition from traditional labor to machine-assisted production.
