European Common Market and Community

This work serves as a foundational academic resource reissued by Routledge, an imprint of Taylor & Francis, to provide historical perspective on the structural evolution of the European Economic Community. Originally grounded in the mid-twentieth-century push for continental integration, the text analyzes the complex institutional frameworks that necessitated the transition from a trade-focused arrangement to a more robust political and economic union.

Uwe Kitzinger, a distinguished scholar and expert on European affairs, designed this analysis to bridge the gap between technical policy and political reality. The work is widely regarded in academic circles for its rigorous deconstruction of the treaties and diplomatic hurdles that defined the post-war European landscape, offering students and researchers an essential look at the early mechanics of the common market.
