Garfield Older & Wider (Garfield)

Garfield Older & Wider was published in 2005 by Ballantine Books as part of the long-running series of Garfield comic strip collections authored by Jim Davis. The collection captures the cynical, lasagna-loving cat in the context of the franchise’s third decade, maintaining the strip's focus on the domestic tensions between Garfield, his owner Jon Arbuckle, and the household dog, Odie.

Jim Davis created Garfield in 1978 with the intent of producing a universally relatable character centered on human-like domestic behaviors. The visual style, characterized by clean lines and expressive, round-featured characters, was designed for readability in daily newspaper syndication. Collections like this one were produced to aggregate the daily strips for readers who preferred a narrative flow over the fragmented, day-to-day delivery of the original publication.
