Where it came from
Published by Mobilia in 1966, this commemorative volume was produced to mark the centenary of the birth of silversmith Georg Jensen. It serves as a retrospective on the house of Jensen, documenting the evolution of its aesthetic from the early Art Nouveau designs that defined the brand at the turn of the century to the more streamlined, sculptural functionalism that characterized its mid-century output.
The book captures the firm's significant influence on Danish design history, highlighting the collaborative ethos that defined Jensen's workshops. By showcasing the work of legendary designers like Henning Koppel and Nanna Ditzel alongside the founder's original sketches, the publication provides a scholarly look at the transition from intricate silver artistry to modern industrial mastery. It remains a key reference for design historians interested in the intersection of traditional craftsmanship and modernist theory.
