Where it came from
Published in 1920 by the firm Georg Jensen & Wendel, this volume serves as a foundational catalog documenting the early output of the Georg Jensen silversmithy. It was produced during a period when the company was transitioning from a Copenhagen-based studio into an internationally recognized powerhouse of the Arts and Crafts movement, aiming to standardize the presentation of Jensen’s distinctive Art Nouveau aesthetic to prospective high-end clients.
The publication highlights the organic, sculptural design philosophy championed by Georg Jensen, whose focus on hammered surfaces and flora-inspired motifs redefined Scandinavian silver. By documenting his core pieces, the book provided a visual manifesto for the brand's commitment to craftsmanship, helping to cement Jensen's reputation as a master silversmith whose work bridged the gap between functional utilitarian objects and fine art.
