Gli affetti giovenili

Gli affetti giovenili, published in Venice in 1605, represents the intellectual climate of the early 17th-century Italian Counter-Reformation. Written by Tommaso Buoni, a minor philosopher and author known for his contributions to contemporary moral discourse, the text explores the complexities of youthful emotions and their intersection with virtue. It reflects the period's preoccupation with codifying human behavior and providing ethical guidance within a rigid societal framework.

The publication by Gio. Battista Colosini in Venice aligns with the city's role as a major hub for European printing and the dissemination of moralizing literature. The design of the book adheres to the standard aesthetic of the era’s academic treatises, focusing on clarity of text to serve its instructional purpose. While the volume is an obscure entry in the canon of Renaissance literature, it remains a testament to the era's widespread dedication to producing didactic texts aimed at the moral refinement of the young.
