Gli affetti giovenili, opera morale

Published in 1601 by Gio. Battista Colosino, Tommaso Buoni's 'Gli affetti giovenili' emerged from the intellectual climate of early seventeenth-century Italy. This work is a product of the moralistic literature common to the period, intended to provide ethical guidance to young men regarding the regulation of their emotions and impulses. It reflects the broader cultural preoccupation with Neostoicism and Christian ethics that defined the educational texts of the era.

Tommaso Buoni, a writer known for his contributions to the moral discourse of the Counter-Reformation, structured the text as a collection of philosophical reflections. The volume was designed for a scholarly and courtly audience, aiming to harmonize secular passion with religious propriety. While it remains a niche historical interest, the book is valued by bibliophiles for its role in illustrating how Italian humanist thought attempted to bridge the gap between classical psychological theory and the practical conduct of youth.
