Jacques-André Treillard, 1712-1794

This work by Marianne Clerc was published in 1992 by the Atelier National de Reproduction des Thèses at the Université de Lille III. It serves as an academic study of Jacques-André Treillard, a French jurist and politician who lived through the tumultuous years of the 18th century, including the French Revolution. The text was produced as part of the university's initiative to preserve and disseminate doctoral research, providing a focused biographical and historical examination of a figure often overshadowed by more prominent revolutionary leaders.

The publication reflects the methodology typical of French historical dissertations from the early 1990s, prioritizing archival research and institutional analysis. Clerc focuses on Treillard’s legal career and his contributions to the development of the Napoleonic Code, contextualizing his life against the shifting political landscapes of the Ancien Régime and the subsequent Republic. As an academic production intended for a niche audience of historians and legal scholars, the book was designed for clarity and scholarly rigor rather than wide commercial circulation.
