Provenance

Where it came from

Published in 1984, this catalogue was issued by the Kreis Mettmann in conjunction with an exhibition of works by Klaus Rinke. Rinke, a pivotal figure in the German conceptual art scene, gained significant recognition during this period for his rigorous focus on temporal and spatial elements, often utilizing water, steel, and performance to explore the nature of human existence and physical laws.

The publication serves as a documentation of Rinke's sculptures and drawings, reflecting the minimalist and architectural aesthetic that defined his career. As an institutional release from the Oberkreisdirektor’s office for cultural affairs, it was intended to catalog the breadth of his artistic output for public record and educational discourse, fitting within the broader context of West German regional art initiatives during the mid-1980s.
