La Basilica di San Vitale a Ravenna

Published in 1997 by F.C. Panini, this monograph was created as part of an academic initiative to document the architectural and mosaic masterpieces of Ravenna. It serves as a comprehensive study of the Basilica of San Vitale, a sixth-century Byzantine structure celebrated for its well-preserved mosaics and complex octagonal design. The text provides a scholarly examination of the site's historical significance, bridging the gap between historical research and accessible art historical documentation.

The book reflects the high production standards of Panini’s cultural publications, which were intended to showcase the intricate detail of Italian heritage sites. Through the research of Patrizia Angiolini Martinelli, the volume offers an in-depth analysis of the theological and political symbolism embedded in the basilica’s iconographic program. Upon its release, it was received as a valuable reference tool for scholars and visitors, noted for its clear synthesis of complex historical narratives and its dedication to the aesthetic preservation of the monument.
